END TO THE DAY

Judged by the Company One Keeps
      By Anonymous

One night in late October,
When I was far from sober,
Returning with my load with manly pride,
My feet began to stutter,
So I lay down in the gutter,
And a pig came near and lay down by my side;
A lady passing by was heard to say:
"You can tell a man who boozes,
By the company he chooses,"
And the pig got up and slowly walked away.

My brain is beginning to stutter from over indulging in awakeness.

So the pig didn't want to be judged by keeping company with the man, or . . . ?

I keep company with you, of course, and I have no idea what that says about either of us.

I think it says a lot about us. No need to get specific.

Yes, I have VERY sophisticated taste when it comes to poetry.
