FICKET

M asked me to "publish" his piece on my blog. So here it is:

THE FICKET

By M

There once was a fox named Denmar. He had a friend named Zark. Zark was a cricket. Both had been rejected from their clans. The cricket clan and the fox clan were at the brink of war but that didn’t get in the way of their friendship.

Denmar and Zark were playing tag. “Your it!” Zark cried with glee. He hopped away. Demar bounded after him. “No,” Demar said. “Your it!” They continued playing until the sun started to set.

“We better get back to the cave” Denmar said. “There is going to be a storm.”

“The sooner, the better.” Agreed Zark.

The sky grew darker. The wind started up.

“Hurry, “urged Denmar

The sky was now so dark in the Greenleaf woods that you couldn’t see the thunder clouds that crossed the sky. Denmar and Zark were running side by side.

“Get to the cave” Denmar bellowed over the whipping winds. CRACK!!! BOOM!!!

“That sounded close!” Zark yelled. The cave was in sight. Suddenly Denmar was struck by lightning!

“Denmar!” Zark yelled. Zap! Lightning struck him to.

“I’ll never forget you” said Denmar as their bodies were lifted off the ground by the lightning.

“And I’ll never forget you” said Zark. The lightning brought them together. The world turned white. And then the ficket was born.

The ficket is a combination of Denmar and Zark. It is a creature with the head of a cricket and the body of a fox. But it still has the heart, soul and mind of Denmar and Zark.

The ficket still roams the Greenleaf woods. It is a peaceful creature and it will heal others. Hunters occasionally got a glimpse of this exotic animal. But strange things started happening in Greenleaf woods.

One day the woods vanished! Why? No one knows.

Re: Ficket
Thank you. No, I don't know why the woods vanished yet. So I don't know if the woods will come back. Tell Julian and Lucien, cousin M says Howzit going?

From Nanna
Dear Michael,

Grandad and I really enjoyed your story about the Ficket. I thought the story was very good and so well written, the friendship between Denmar and Zark and the way you described the storm with the whipping winds and the thunder and lightning was really good, I could picture everything in my mind. I have printed if off and will keep it with the stories I have that your Mom has written and sent me copies off. I do hope the woods reappear, I would love to read more.

Love Nanna

Well done Michael - the Ficket rocks
We enjoyed your creative story very much. Looks like your mom has been a good influence. It won't be long before you are giving her serious competition.

Jean and Keith

P.S. Looking forward to the next one.
