UNDER THE WEATHER

For the last few days, my laptop and I have not been feeling up to scratch. I seem to have a touch of a stomach virus (I won't gross you out with the details) and my poor, faithful laptop has been infected by a trojan. Sadly, while I am on the mend, my laptop is well and truly laid up. I was able to fall back on the paper and pen tools of my trade, so all was not lost and thankfully, due to a recent backup, I have all my documents safely waiting to be restored once my laptop has convalesced.

At the library today, while flipping through the W's to Wolves in the World Book Encyclopedia, my eye stopped at the entry under Writing and I thought I'd share these facts from World Book with you:

"A writer who wants to write a novel should first concentrate on writing the novel and then be concerned with selling it."

"A person who wants to be a writer should set aside some time to write every day. Learning to express ideas clearly and effectively in writing takes a great deal of practice."

World Book then went on to explain the difference between fiction and non-fiction writing, script-writing and even provided information on how to submit a manuscript. I can't say that I ever considered the World Book encyclopedia to be a writing resource as far as the actual craft of writing goes. Well, what do you know?

I know that I LOVE the snow.

The computer viruses seem to be rampant lately.
Hope you're feeling better!

Not quite 100% yet, but getting there. My laptop makes a great doorstop at the moment.
