Today is the 30th day in my post-a-day challenge. And what have I learned?

Blogging on a daily basis is a serious commitment. I didn't have something worth sharing everyday but I still had to come up with a post. I tried hard not to cop out with one liners but some nights I was too exhausted to do any better.

It helps to have a plan. Hah! This only dawned on me about a week ago. I've given some thought on what I want my blog to achieve and what I'd like to post about. I like to share what I learn regarding my writing process (and progress) and this serves as reinforcement for me while perhaps being useful to fellow bloggers. I also like to entertain (I'm always very entertained by myself) and perhaps readers will find some of my observations amusing. Or not. What I've come to realize is that this blog is mainly for me - a sort of talking aloud, a sounding board and a way of finding out if others experience similar things.

It's an assignment. By making a commitment to share something worthwhile, I will learn along the way and become a better writer. I don't want all my posts to be frivilous. This links up with the have a plan bit. If I plan to blog about a certain topic once a week, then I'll learn more about the writing process, pitfalls, techniques and tips. I also don't want my blog to be heavy and academic. I don't want to groan when I remember that I'm behind on my blogging. I want to have fun. If I don't enjoy writing it, you won't enjoy reading it.

Thank you for sticking with me for these past 30 days. I've enjoyed your company and I cherish your support.

I'm taking the weekend off.

But now I have a plan, Stan.

THanks. But you know me, won't be long before I think up another 30-day challenge. Any suggestions?

Brava! You completed your challenge! Having a plan is good. So is having fun. I'm a fan of both.

Dear Downunder,

Thanks for the encouragement and the peeking. I'll try to be better at the calling.
