Today I did diddly. No that's not really true - I just didn't do much. Like most Saturdays, I slept late, if you can call 8:30 late. But I woke up to:

My wonderful husband brought me tea and cake (the breakfast of champions!) in bed and I read my book until around 11:00. Still in my pjs, I ventured downstairs for some real breakfast (oatmeal and banana) and carried that upstairs, climbed back in bed and started a new book. So I had breakfast in bed twice! Does it get any better than that?

An hour or so later, I drifted downstairs and looked out the kitchen window to find that the birdfeeder which usually looks like this:
Now looked like that:

And our covered front patio was, well covered in snow, the planters sporting fluffy white blooms.

I made myself a cup of tea, and you guessed it, read some more. After watching hubby shovel the driveway for a while, I began to feel more than a little self-indulgent and peeled myself off the sofa. I let the dog outside so that she could make some yellow snow. Hilarious to watch because the snow was more than shoulder-height for her.

Don't be fooled by the super sad droopy dog expression - she LOVES the snow and likes to play fetch, even if it does take ten minutes to find the tennis ball.

S wanted to make snow angels, so I dragged myself upstairs, plugged my ears against the siren song coming from my bed, got dressed and we braved the white stuff. Making a snowman was difficult because the snow was so powdery. We managed his body okay but couldn't get his head to form at all. So we compromised with a basketball. Not perfect but still pretty cute.

Hubby finally finished shoveling the driveway,

so I made him a hot cup of tea. And then went for a nap.
Talk about a strenuous Saturday!

A well deserved "strenuous Saturday" I'm sure. I just hope that squirrel on the bird feeder managed to escape to some place warm and cozy. I like hubbies SUV complements of the snow.

I'm sure Vancouver could do with some of your snow. We've been watching the olympics and I'm amazed at how little snow is on Grouse Mountain. A friend of mine told me that they've had to ship in some snow!!

Miss you.

Speaking of the Olympics, I watched the curling event last night, and I might be showing my age and senility level here, but it was quite exciting.
