SWEET RETREAT

I'm home again. And happy to be here. The boys missed me and I missed them. It's smiles all around, right now.

My writing retreat in New Hampshire with Kelly Fineman is almost a memory. Luckily, I have photographic evidence  - there's nothing like traipsing through the woods between writing sessions to rejuvenate the creativity.

And now for some pretty pictures.

We didn't run into any bears - I was most thankful. We didn't come across any moose either, but tracker Kelly found moose prints in the mud.

That's me, sitting on a boulder, next to a mountain stream, in the sunshine. It doesn't get any better than that.

No, not Switzerland. Waterville Valley, NH.

The stream made happy sounds. That made me happy.

                                                       How pretty is that?

The company you keep, especially on retreat, makes all the difference.

Thanks, Kelly. It was a fine time.

You were missed. Not only for your delicious salmon dish but also because I had to fend off the demon all by myself. I closed your bedroom door and pretended you were in there - sleeping, writing, reading and stuff. You got a lot done!

I hope your inspiration felt, at least in moments, as gorgeous as this setting! Those mountains! That stream!

It was nice to see you for a moment at nescbwi! Wish it was longer, of course.

It was the perfect setting to crunch out an amazing amount of work.
I'm sorry too, that we didn't get a chance to chat at NESCBWI, other than for me to quickly gush about Borrowed Names. It's a great read.

. . . you'd have more free time? I can think of lots of other ways to finish that sentence, not all of them good. But I will assume you meant it as a compliment and go to bed happy.

Re: random commenter
I highly recommend them. Nothing is as inspiring as a break from reality.
