On Bundling, by Anonymous
Since in bed, a maid
May bundle and be chaste.
It doth no good to burn up wood.
It is a needless waste.
As a little kid, Anonymous was one of my favorite poets. Really.
Funny that this poem, which is amusing to me, can be found in the "World of Love and Romance" section of the Random House Treasury of Best-Loved Poems. This poem is new to me. How about you?
As much as we love our servants, let's not be wasting wood by keeping them warm. Is that the gist?
I like it - it's short and sweet.
